Avatar at the Rialto, Tucson

On July 31, 2022, Avatar brought their madness to the Rialto Theatre in Tucson, AZ for the final date of their “Wicked Tour Title” tour. On this leg of the tour, Avatar brought out two amazing openers. The first was Light the Torch (formerly Devil You Know), an American metalcore supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 2012. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast Records and have released four albums: two under the "Devil You Know" moniker (The Beauty of Destruction and They Bleed Red) and two under the "Light the Torch" name (Revival and You Will Be the Death of Me). The other was The Callous Daoboys, which have been described as mathcore and have referred to themselves as a nu-metal band, citing The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Korn, Slipknot, and Linkin Park as their biggest influences. Those influences come across in their live performance. It was like watching beautiful chaos unfold before my eyes with amazing mathcore music holding it all together. They are currently on the road supporting their new album Celebrity Therapist, which I personally think is pure genius and has not one song on it I would skip. The headliners, Avatar, took the stage to a packed house. When they took the stage and opened with ‘Colossus’, I did notice that they were one band member short. Later in the show, Johannes (vocals) informed the crowd that due to personal matters that needed to be addressed, Henrik (bass) could not join for their past few shows. Henrik did record some live bass tracks for them to use to finish off the tour. Even though he was missed, Avatar still put on a high-energy mesmerizing show. They never disappoint when it comes to entertaining us all in Avatar Country.
